The goal of this blog is to create a list of super facts. Important facts that are true with very high certainty and yet surprising, misunderstood, or disputed by many. This blog aims to be challenging, educational, and fun, without it being clickbait. I determine veracity using evidence, data from reputable sources and longstanding scientific consensus. Prepare to be challenged (I am). Intentionally seek the truth not confirmation of your belief.
Smorgasbord Blog Magazine Share Superfact 56 – The Bermuda Triangle the Big Non-Mystery
Imagine my delight when I saw the post above. Sally is sharing my super fact 56:
Super fact 56 : The Bermuda Triangle mystery is a myth. There is not a higher risk of disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. To be specific, disappearances do not occur in the so-called Bermuda Triangle, or Devils Triangle, with any higher frequency than in other comparable regions of the ocean. The “mystery” of the Bermuda Triangle is largely a manufactured one, perpetuated by sensationalized accounts that often misrepresent the facts and downplay the role of natural hazards like storms.
In addition, she is promoting my Leonberger dog book for which D.L. Finn wrote a great review. Thank you so much Sally and D.L. Finn. Please click the link and see the Smorgasbord blog magazine post.
The Bermuda Triangle: It is approximately defined as a triangle Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. There is no exact definition. Alphaiosderivative work: -Majestic-, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons.
My name is Thomas Wikman. I am a software/robotics engineer with a background in physics. I am currently retired. I took early retirement. I am a dog lover, and especially a Leonberger lover, a home brewer, craft beer enthusiast, I’m learning French, and I am an avid reader. I live in Dallas, Texas, but I am originally from Sweden. I am married to Claudia, and we have three children. I have two blogs. The first feature the crazy adventures of our Leonberger Le Bronco von der Löwenhöhle as well as information on Leonbergers. The second blog, superfactful, feature information and facts I think are very interesting. With this blog I would like to create a list of facts that are accepted as true among the experts of the field and yet disputed amongst the public or highly surprising. These facts are special and in lieu of a better word I call them super-facts.

Me worried about the Bermuda Triangle? Oh no— no way!
It’s stuff of legend
I’ve been fascinated by it since I was a little kid. Fascinated but never feared it. It does make for great conversation and to watch the imagination about it flow through books and film… good stuff!
It’s true, the deep oceans of the world are quite mysterious. Don’t turn your back on them.
And don’t forget— one man’s truth is another man’s folly.
Thank you so much Kenneth. It is a fascinating topic. I’ve known for a long time that the Bermuda Triangle was a non-mystery. We went to Bermuda for our honey moon flying over it. We aren’t afraid either.
Thank you so much Debby. Yes I saw it now and responded. I don’t get notifications for new comments (only replies to mine) on Sally’s blog and I hadn’t checked for a while. There were other comments too. I really appreciate everything you and Sally do.
Thank you Debby. Yes that is one WP feature that is missing. Another, is that the comment replies are maximum ten deep, so if you are having a discussion it stops you from replying.
Congratulations! It’s wonderful to see your Super Fact featured and your work being shared. The Bermuda Triangle myth is a fascinating example of how sensational stories can become accepted as facts. Thanks for sharing!

Yes you are right Anowar. It is very easy to get bamboozled and accept sensational stories as fact. Thank you Anowar for your kind words.

It has long fascinated folks, but seems implausible.

Yes it is a story that grew, like a feather turning into a hen, but there really isn’t anything special about the Bermuda Triangle.
