The goal of this blog is to create a list of super facts. Important facts that are true with very high certainty and yet surprising, misunderstood, or disputed by many. This blog aims to be challenging, educational, and fun, without it being clickbait. I determine veracity using evidence, data from reputable sources and longstanding scientific consensus. Prepare to be challenged (I am). Intentionally seek the truth not confirmation of your belief.
Smorgasbord Blog Magazine Share Superfact 57 – Half the World’s Population Live within a 2 Percent Circle
Imagine my delight when I saw the post above. Sally is sharing my super fact 57: Super fact 57 : Half the World’s Population live within a circle that covers 2% of the world’s surface, or 10% of earth’s land area. This circle is often referred to as the “Valeriepieris Circle” or Yuxi Circle, and it is centered on southeast Asia. In addition, she is promoting my Leonberger dog book for which Robbie wrote a great review. Thank you so much Sally and Robbie. Please hop over to Smorgasbord blog magazine and read it.
My name is Thomas Wikman. I am a software/robotics engineer with a background in physics. I am currently retired. I took early retirement. I am a dog lover, and especially a Leonberger lover, a home brewer, craft beer enthusiast, I’m learning French, and I am an avid reader. I live in Dallas, Texas, but I am originally from Sweden. I am married to Claudia, and we have three children. I have two blogs. The first feature the crazy adventures of our Leonberger Le Bronco von der Löwenhöhle as well as information on Leonbergers. The second blog, superfactful, feature information and facts I think are very interesting. With this blog I would like to create a list of facts that are accepted as true among the experts of the field and yet disputed amongst the public or highly surprising. These facts are special and in lieu of a better word I call them super-facts.

You’re welcome. 🙂 The LIKE button is still there under the post, but I don’t see them for comments either. Check your “Sharing” settings. Maybe it was inadvertently turned off.
What an honor—actually, a double honor, as it involves a reference to your SuperFacts and to your book! Well done and congrats, Thomas! It’s always rewarding when our expressions are acknowledged somewhere else! Light and blessings to you, my friend, always! 🙏✨
Yes you are right Susana. Both a post for one blog and my Leonberger book got a free promotion. Sally has been so nice to me. Thank you so much Susanna and light and blessings to you too, my friend.

This super fact makes that area quite vulnerable to natural or chemical disasters, which is frightening to contemplate.

Yes you are right Forestwood. Whenever you have a lot of people in a small space, be it big cities or crowded countries, people are vulnerable.

Lulu: “Wow, and our Dada thought Southern California was crowded!”

Most places are crowded when you compare them to where I grew up 😉

Same here. I grew up in northern Sweden, Norrland, which is as big as the state of California (or almost) and only has one million people.

It is, Lulu, but maybe the Yuxi circle is even more crowded.
